Why do I sound like that?

Cam asked me to make a vid of him to mark his 11th birthday. Of course when he saw this he immediately asked what was wrong with his voice. I don't think he had ever heard himself on a video before and he didn't like it. He has been trying to add baritone to his voice ever since :) I did this on my camera and it isn't the highest quality vid I have ever seen. But you will get the gist of things...And yes the person with the awful southern drawl mixed with a little NJ accent just to make it sound even worse is yours truly.

That beautiful boy already has the lock on smart! My 11 year old wants the deep voice, too. I want to hold onto his boy voice as long as possible since everything else seems to be going by so fast!

Note to self: get my recorder out tonight!

Hope the birthday was great! Oh, and your voice sounds sweet!

Well that just shows my ignorance as it just sounds 'American' to me [both of you that is to say!]
Cheers and many happy returns of the day to Cameron

Um, yeah who says a southern drawl is "awful"? The video is a great idea, he is such a hoot. Happy birthday, Cameron! You and your mom are too cool for words.

How gorgeous.. going to college to learn "the wonders.. of smart people.." made me giggle.. That should be a course name I reckon.

fadkog-definitely get the camera out it was a fun idea and I think you will love the results.

mcewen-I still hear my accent...I am not sure if it is because I still talk to friends and relatives in NJ. But I hear the drawl so I guess that is why I dislike it so much.

serenity-thanks :)

kimba-I know! I couldn't help but chuckle when he said that. Oh and the way he sat up in his chair when he said 12th grade. It is one in a million little things he will say that makes me shake my head and smile. You just can't make stuff like that up, ya know?

Awwww, you do have a little bit of a drawl, but it sounds sweet and you have a lovely timbre to your voice. I can't hear any NJ in your accent at all.

*boggles*

Holy cow! You don't sound anything like I imagined. Not in a bad way, though, and actually, you sound much younger than your age. Just a slight amount of Southern drawl, just enough to add a little honey to the ear.

Of course, you look much younger, too... Maybe you're lying about your age?

Anais-why thank you...I consider that a huge compliment coming from you, someone I suspect who is complete control of her voice and diction :)

Tom-and what does a 37 year old sound like? But you are not the 1st person to say I sound and look younger than I am. The look I consider genes but my voice **hunches*** I never was sure how to "sound" older :) Maybe take up smoking? Nah, I will just stick with the school girl voice, it works very well for me in role play I must admit ;)
